Distinguished Volunteer Award: Help us recognise outstanding volunteers
Tuesday, 10 September 2019
Do you know of a volunteer who goes above and beyond to make a difference to the University of Reading community? If the answer is yes, we’d like to hear from you.
Nominations for the 2019 Distinguished Volunteer Awards are now open. Run by the Alumni and Supporter Engagement Office, this annual Award aims to recognise the outstanding contribution made by volunteers.
The University’s IMAGINE campaign set out to inspire supporters to give 60,000 hours of their time by 2020 and our amazing volunteers have answered the call. Last year around 1,450 people gave nearly 19,000 hours of their time in a wide range of ways, from alumni mentoring current students and guiding them in their chosen career paths, to student conductors in a University-led community choir helping local children to find their voices.
You can nominate someone for a Distinguished Volunteer Award under one of two categories:
1. An individual (not necessarily a graduate) whose volunteering has a direct and significant impact on the work of the University.
2. A Reading graduate, current student or staff member whose volunteering makes a contribution to a particular field, furthering the University of Reading’s good reputation.
Any member of the University community can submit a nomination by completing our short online form before 4 October 2019. (Please note: your nominee will not be informed of their nomination by the University unless they are selected to receive an award.)
The awards will be presented at the Alumni House of Lords Reception on 8 November 2019 and the winners will receive two tickets to this highly popular event.
Nominations close on 4 October 2019 so please submit your nomination as soon as you can.
