Implementing new accessibility regulations

University shield

In response to government legislation, public sector web content needs to meet new accessibility regulations. This will have an impact across the University including teams supporting the web and any member of staff creating content.

Key features of the legislation are:

  • From September 2019, online content produced since September 2018 will need to meet accessibility regulations.
  • From September 2020, all existing online content will need to be remediated in order to meet accessibility regulations.
  • From June 2021, all mobile applications will need to meet accessibility regulations.
<!--[if !supportLists]-->

A Content Accessibility Working Group has been established to fully understand the effects of the new legislation and to advise on what needs to be done to ensure the University is compliant with the regulations.

Please look out for further communications in the coming months.
