Volunteers needed for October Open Days
Wednesday, 25 September 2019
The final Open Days of the year are fast approaching, and we need your help!
Following on from our successful Open Days over the summer, we will once again welcome prospective students to campus on Saturday 5 October and Saturday 12 October. Both days will run from 09:00-16:00 (although we ask colleagues helping out on the day to join us from 08.00).
We are still looking for volunteers to help the central team with roles in the Dome and across campus. If you are interested in volunteering to work both or either of the above dates – please get in touch with Nyola Stewart as soon as possible.
We ask staff to be on site from 08:00 to 16:00 if possible and have a variety of exciting roles to fill!
Why volunteer?
With up to 2500 prospective students (plus parents) anticipated at each event, your additional help is not only gratefully received but is also essential to the smooth running of the days, and ultimately, the visitor experience and subsequent inclination to apply to Reading.
Although many of us interact with students in our average working day, there is something truly unique and rewarding about being part of a prospective student’s first impression of campus. Volunteering can help refresh your own view of University life too, providing a new sense of perspective on how students view the things we see every day.
As for working on a Saturday, volunteers tend to get a day of in lieu (at your line manager’s discretion) in exchange for working over the weekend. Speak to your managers first if unsure.
