Online Reading Lists: improved editing interface
Monday, 03 August 2020
The online Reading Lists system editing screens will be upgraded in early August, with the update making editing online Reading Lists much easier and more intuitive.
The change will take place on 10 August 2020 and should not require any system downtime, You do not need to take any action as your reading list interface will be updated automatically - please do continue to work on your online reading lists as normal.
The main changes are detailed below:
- All list editing can be done in the View screen - so you are able to see exactly how students will see your updated reading list, and you don't need to swap to a separate view to make changes.
- You will still be able to collect items to add to your online Reading List using the bookmark button, but an additional feature is the Quick Add, which allows you to search for and add books while in the online Reading List screen.
- Following the upgrade it will be quicker and easier to move items and entire sections of reading lists, and you'll be able to see any missing information e.g. importance categories
- The edit interface will work much better on mobile and tablet devices, and is visible in Blackboard so it will be easier to see all edit options within your Blackboard module.
Many thanks to the early adopters in Schools and Departments across the University for their help in trialing these new features and providing feedback. Updated training materials will be available on the online guide in early August, and if you have any questions, please contact your Academic Liaison Librarian.
