Clearing, Adjustment and Confirmation hotline

The below message was sent from Vice-Chancellor Professor Robert Van de Noort to all colleagues earlier today.
Dear Colleagues,
Thursday 13 August is the A-level results day. Colleagues across the University have been working hard over the past few months to ensure we secure our next cohort of talented undergraduate students.
To help respond quickly to enquiries from both our firm and insurance offer holders - as well as prospective students wishing to join the University through Clearing or Adjustment this year - we are running a single hotline with call routing to take calls from all applicants and offer-holders. The Clearing, Adjustment and Confirmation hotline can be reached on 0118 402 0900 and will be operational at these times:
- Thursday 13 August - 08:00-18:00
- Friday 14 August - 08:00-17:00
- Saturday 15 August - 10:00-14:00
- Monday 17 August onwards -09:00-17:00
Volunteers from different parts of the University are supporting the Clearing process, which will be managed from our Library. Preparations have been made to ensure those supporting Clearing can work safely while maintaining social distance.
As I have said in my recent briefing sessions, the successful recruitment of students is more crucial than ever this year. Many prospective students and their supporters may, understandably, have additional reservations about enrolling this year given the coronavirus pandemic. A last minute policy change made by the Government today adds an extra dimension but we will be doing our best to provide support and reassurance to all those young people wanting to study with us. I have absolute confidence that all colleagues supporting Clearing will do their very best to showcase what makes Reading an excellent place to study.
While the vast majority of calls will come through to the Clearing hotline, should you receive any enquiries directly, please redirect these to the Clearing, Adjustment and Confirmation hotline. Please be mindful that this is an especially anxious time for prospective students, parents and supporters and they will appreciate any support we can offer them. All students offered a place at the University through the Clearing or Adjustment process on Thursday 13 August will be given the opportunity to attend an invitation-only online event on Friday 14 August. The session will provide Clearing and Adjustment offer holders an opportunity to get more information about the University and engage with colleagues in key functions as well as using our Unibuddy chat platform to contact academic staff.
