Disability and Neurodiversity Research Showcase - Theory to Practice
Call for submissions
The overarching aim of this project is to showcase research conducted in the area of supporting neurodivergent and disabled students by:
1. Disseminating recent research illustrating best practice.
2. Tying recent research to practical recommendations for supporting neurodivergent and disabled students.
3. Supporting colleagues in developing their confidence and competence in supporting neurodivergent and disabled students in order to enrich their university experience.
The showcase will explicitly consider disabilities as defined by the Equality Act (2010) as well as neurodivergent conditions such as Dyspraxia (DCD), Dyslexia, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Dyscalculia, Autistic Spectrum Condition, Tourette Syndrome and others. Speakers will include staff and students and will encompass all forms of research across all departments, to give a broad perspective of research and experience at Reading.
The showcase will consist of three themed 90-minute online sessions (four 15-minute talks from two members of staff and two students, plus a 30-minute panel Q&A). We aim to run one session a month in January, February and March 2021.

- Research in practice: what works?
- Student voice: to what extent do disabled and neurodivergent students feel included in decisions related to their university experience?
- Removing barriers/being proactive.
