Annual Edith Morley Lecture: Women in Sport - Overcoming and Succeeding
Thursday 5 March, 19:00
Henley Business School, Whiteknights campus
Please join us as we mark International Women's Day with our celebratory Edith Morley lecture, in honour of Edith Morley, believed to be the first woman awarded the title of professor in a British university.
This year, we turn our attention to women in sport. On Thursday 5 March, female innovators and game-changers from the sporting world will share their experiences in a special panel discussion.
Historically, sports have been a male dominated arena with very low numbers of women involved. Today, the number of female athletes is rising significantly, yet, women's sports are highly underrepresented in the media, and female athletes earn considerably less than their male counterparts.
We're delighted to announce a guest panel that includes professional athletes Fara Williams, Kelly Chambers, Cath Bishop and our own Reading student, Alice Kirkup. The panel will cover a wide range of topics, including how these remarkable sportswomen have overcome barriers and gone onto achieve great success in their fields.
Admission is free and all are welcome. To book your place, please visit our Events page.
