Grounds Maintenance need to carry out some tree works on the Wessex side of the main lake and will need to close the footpaths and bridges across the lake at different times. The works will be carried out in two parts on Tuesday 7 January and Thursday 9 January 2020.

On Tuesday the lake side path between Wessex Hall Gate House and Black Bridge will be closed. The is to finish the crown lift of trees overhanging foot path and chip branches to improve sight lines and remove a number of low hanging or dead branches and diseased trees. Black Bridge will be closed after 09:30 to allow the removal of a group of dead Elm and Alder, White Bridge will be open throughout the works. All paths and bridges will be reopened by 16:00.

On Thursday various sections of paths and bridges from the School of Agriculture and Policy Development to Whiteknights Gate will be intermittently closed to allow stump grinding to take place safely. All paths and bridges will be reopened by 16:00.

In both cases alternative pedestrian routes will be clearly signed and colleagues should use these paths.

These works are being carried now before the start of term to minimise impact and also have the least effect on wildlife on our campus.
