Working from home support: new courses

People Development are running four online, facilitator-led courses, designed to support colleagues with different challenges associated with working from home for a prolonged period of time. Each individual session covers a different topic giving practical tips and strategies.
Working from home can be easy to do for a short time, but in the long term most people experience problems with motivation and isolation. They also often need to deal with difficult domestic issues of distractions and workspace.
You may book onto as many sessions as you like. However please note that if you would like to attend all four sessions you must register on all four sessions.
The dates, timings and specific objectives of each session are listed below:
Planning Productivity: Tuesday 18 August (09:00 – 10:30)
By the end of this session you will:
- Know the basic strategies for working at home
- Be able to plan your time in a de-stressing and motivating way
- Have increased confidence when working from home, through appreciation and self-appreciation

Dealing With Distractions: Tuesday 18 August (11:00 – 12:30)
By the end of this session you will:
- Know a variety of effective methods for understanding and communicating your needs to others
- Know how to ‘safeguard’ time, and what to do with it
- Know what is meant by ‘hard’ and ‘soft’ time and be able to create hard and soft time zones

Staying Motivated: Tuesday 25 August (09:00 – 10:30)
By the end of this session you will:
- Have an appreciation of the motivational problems and needs of home workers
- Be aware of a range of self-motivating work methods (e.g. ‘pomodoro’, lost time, review)
- Know how to spot early signs of demotivation and know what to do about them

Utilising Support: Tuesday 25 August (11:00 – 12:30)
By the end of this session you will:
- Be aware of a range of support alternatives, know how to access them and know when and how to use them to get the best out of them
- Know how to ask for support without feeling weak
- Know how to make it stick and be able to maximise the benefits from contact and support
