Graduate Outcomes Data available
Wednesday, 24 June 2020

Earlier this spring we received the first round of data from the new Graduate Outcomes survey, which is delivered by the Higher Education Statistics Agency (HESA).
We are pleased to announce that our initial analysis of the Graduate Outcomes data is now available for staff members. We hope the data will help academic schools and departments gain insight into the employment impact of their degree programmes and related initiatives.
The Graduate Outcomes survey, run by HESA and previously known as the Destinations of Leavers from Higher Education (DLHE), aims to gain insight into the perspectives and destinations of graduates across the UK. The results will be used by the government and other third parties, for example university league tables. We also use the survey insights to help us evaluate our courses and Careers support. It asks not only for facts about what individuals are doing post-study, but also for their reflections on how education has contributed to where they are today.
In our initial analysis, we have provided two dashboards – one containing our Internal data that we are not able to share externally, and the other containing anonymised data that colleagues from other departments can use for purposes such as in Open Days, prospectuses and reporting.
HESA have also released their initial Sector level analysis of the data in their Statistical Bulletin and some provider level analysis in their Open Data release for the annual first release of Graduate Outcomes survey data. These experimental statistics cover UK higher education providers (HEPs) including alternative providers (APs) and further education colleges (FECs) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland.
HESA are due to release one final phase of the open data, expected on 9th July. We will begin our internal investigations into the University’s standing within the sector in the comings weeks and months and will share once complete.
Please find a link to the new Graduate Outcomes dashboard and information on the software required to view it here.
Please note: This dashboard is our interpretation of the data using the old DLHE methodology. HESA will likely have a different way to model the data. Once that has been published later this year, we will be re-working the data accordingly and will share updates.
