University achieves double ISO certificationThursday, 12 March 2020
The way we manage our energy and environment has been recognised following a double ISO certification.
We have once again maintained ISO14001 and ISO50001 certifications - hallmarks of the high standards that enable us to enhance our environmental credentials further.
After a gruelling auditing process, the assessor's feedback was extremely positive and resulted in the re-certification of the system for a further three years.
The auditor praised the University, commenting that "This was an extremely good audit which has demonstrated that the University are operating a well-managed and effective management system which meets the requirements of the ISO 14001:2015 and ISO 50001:2018 standards".
The Environment and Energy Management System (EEMS) helps the University manage its energy use and environmental impacts by implementing a framework that imbeds consideration of environmental sustainability into everyday business processes.
This includes increasing the awareness of sustainability issues locally and globally, communicating and encouraging best practice, correcting and improving systems, identifying risks and opportunities, improving environmental performance, compliance reporting and monitoring and measuring.
The ISO standards are internationally recognised by governing and funding bodies and helps the University demonstrate that it is taking its responsibilities regarding environmental sustainability seriously.
Recognition and thanks go to those who have contributed to the continual improvement of the University's environmental performance.
