REF 2021: Update on coronavirus contingency planning
Wednesday, 25 March 2020
The funding bodies announced on 24 March that contingency arrangements are being put in place for the REF 2021. You can read the full communication online.
The deadline for submission of 27 November has been suspended and a new deadline will be announced in due course. The new deadline will provide some time for institutions to finalise their submissions. Importantly, the census date for staff and the end of assessment period for impact continue to be 31 July 2020.
Given that the census and impact dates remain the same, it is important that the University continues with REF preparations according to our original timetable. In this way we will maximise impact opportunities before the period for assessment of impact ends whilst ensuring that all other elements are fully developed for submission at short notice.
Therefore, all planned processes and activities should continue as originally planned. This includes the processes for assessment of research independence, voluntary declaration of personal circumstances, and impact case studies.
Your support in continuing to deposit outputs in CentAUR and ROSS, considering declaring personal circumstances, and work on impact case studies will enable us to continue to develop and improve our submission.
