Funding secured for Erasmus activities in Europe and beyond
Thursday, 05 November 2020
The University of Reading has secured c.€1.1m of Erasmus+ funding to support student and staff activities within Europe and further afield.
The funding will support activities such as study and work abroad opportunities for students and teaching and training opportunities with partners and organisations in Europe between 2020 and 2022. The funding will also support mobility activities in schools with existing partner institutions in Canada, Indonesia, Israel, Philippines, Russian Federation and Thailand between 2020 and 2023.
On the funding award, Paul Inman, Pro Vice-Chancellor (International) said:
"Securing these funds at the end of the current Erasmus programme is really important. We will be able to support long-established and new activities across multiples countries. The award also evidences our ongoing commitment to working with our European and International partners and provides more opportunities for student and staff development".
Marcus Dowse, Erasmus & Study Abroad Manager, said:
"The Erasmus programme has played an important part in the lives of many of our colleagues and students over the decades. The funding will provide financial support for student and staff mobility in Europe in 2021/2, and outside Europe until 2023 in the six countries where funds have been allocated. The funding will enable Reading to develop new partnerships and activities, as well as nurture and maintain existing links.
"The team looks forward to supporting participants in the future and seeing how we can help schools realise any ambitions they might have in Europe and further afield."
To help showcase the University's participation in the Erasmus programme, the Erasmus & Study Abroad Office recently took part in an online celebration marking Erasmus Days, which included contributions from current and past students and staff, as well as a podcast and live Q&A for current and future students. If you missed the event, you can still find all information and content on this Erasmus Days page.
