Over 1200 colleagues joined Vice-Chancellor Robert Van de Noort in his latest all-staff briefing session, which took place on Wednesday 18 November.
The session focused on the ongoing work to deliver the University Strategy, which we have previously referred to as the Phase-2 of our Post-COVID-19 Response Programme.
Opening the session, Robert said that creating a strong institution required us all to work together and be respectful of each other. "Whether you are a professional services colleague or an academic, your contribution to our University and its future is important".
He reminded colleagues about the plans to end face-to-face teaching for this term on 9 December and thanked them for all the work during this term.
The Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Academic Planning & Resources, Mark Fellowes, led the briefing on delivering the University Strategy - sharing the feedback from School and Function engagement sessions. He said the feedback was rich and offered insights, challenges and suggested mitigations - and could be broadly categorised in the following four broad areas:
- Culture change, how we work together, governance, capacity for change
- Financial – financial models, investment in change
- Need for targets, clarity, data
- Staff/student well-being and productivity
Mark was joined at the session by Elizabeth McCrum (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Education and Student Experience), Dominik Zaum (Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Research and Innovation) and Richard Messer (University Secretary and Chief Strategy Officer) - who answered questions from the participants.
