Race Equality Survey and VC all-staff briefing
Monday, 19 October 2020
You are invited to participate in a Race Equality Survey, which seeks to understand how race and ethnicity affects the day-to-day experience of our staff and students, and identify what can be done to improve the experiences of our Black, Asian or Minority Ethnic (BAME) community.
The survey is open to all colleagues, and you do not have to identify as BAME to participate. Making our University a more inclusive place is a responsibility of each one of us, and you can support this by participating in the survey.
The survey should not take more than 20 minutes to complete, and we encourage you to share details wherever possible. The survey can be accessed via this link.
The survey responses will not only inform the Race Equality Review but will also contribute towards a future Race Equality Charter Mark application. The results will also inform the recommendations of the review and the forward action plan which will follow. We hope you will see your views and ideas reflected within that action plan and will see that we are acting upon the survey results.
We are running a similar survey for students, both of which will close at 23.59 on Monday 26 October.
VC all-staff briefing, 20 October
We would also like to use the opportunity to encourage you to sign up for the Vice-Chancellor's next all-staff briefing on Tuesday 20 October (14:00-15:00), which will be focused on the Race Equality Review that both of us are leading. The Vice-Chancellor will be joined by Deputy Vice-Chancellor Professor Parveen Yaqoob and Dean for Diversity and Inclusion Dr Allán Laville, who will each provide an update on how the Race Equality Review is progressing.
