Honorary degree for founder of Reading charity Deafax

Ken Carter, and his wife Helen Lansdown (CEO of Deafax and former English Graduate of the University of Reading), experienced a great day at the Loughborough University Centenary Celebrations recently.
Ken, currently the Deafax Director of the ICT Research Unit/Virtual Learning Centre at the Institute of Education, Bulmershe , was awarded an Honorary Degree in recognition of his contribution to the development of Loughborough into one of the UK's leading universities.
He has been responsible for helping to set up-the Breakthrough (Deaf/Hearing) Integration Trust (now named DeafPlus), AACT for Children, Deafax, Decibels and Inclusive Environments. For his contribution to preventative medicine and healthcare, he was also recently elected as a Fellow of the Royal Society of Medicine.
Other well known recipients of this honour include Gerald Davies-British Lions Manager to South Africa; Robbie Brightwell- Olympic Athlete and John Disney-Co -Founder of the London Marathon.
Ken attended Loughborough some 50 years ago and was delighted to meet up with such a wide variety of highly experienced individuals in the academic fields of Sports Science, Engineering, Technology and other disciplines;
