The new Staff Portal is live
Friday, 26 February 2010
Welcome to your new Staff Portal. Here you will find all of the elements that were once in the old staff newsletter, the Bulletin. There will be regular news updates published daily about staff and colleagues around the University as well as more general news that I hope will be of interest to you.
I would welcome your feedback and suggestions, as this is a work in progress and it is important that you find it interesting and useful.
Behind the news tab are listed all the current news items in similar categories to those used in the Bulletin:
- Press releases
- Reading in the news - highlighting those members of the University that have appeared in the news recently
- News for staff- interesting stories specifically for University members
- People - news about staff achievements and activities
- Campus authors
- Recent obituaries.
University notices and events are on the front page along with a new link to staff training. On the left hand side my colleagues in the Communications Office and I will continue to keep you updated on ‘Hot topics' such as current building projects and the reshaping of the University. We have also retained the links that you found most useful on the old staff homepage such as the Staff Search (click on the arrow beside it to find more search facilities) and the A-Z links.
I hope that you will check the portal on a daily basis in order to keep up with news and notices. My colleague Becki Rassell and I will be updating the site regularly. Please remember that this is your portal and Becki and I will be relying on your contributions to keep the content lively and interesting so please let us have your stories, news and pictures by using the submit a story links and we will do the rest. Alternatively telephone me on 0118 378 8004.
This is the launch of something that has taken a great deal of work and we have included some of the items that you have sent to us during the time that it has taken to build the site.
I would like to thank the following for all their help in creating the staff portal. Kate Lake and Andy Owen from the Digital Development team, everyone in the Web Support Team and very importantly, Warren Read for beginning with ‘the blank sheet.'
