Some of the town's most popular bands have joined forces to support the Berkshire Autistic Society this Saturday at an organised Music Marathon - all welcome
Some of the town's most popular bands have joined forces to support Berkshire Autistic Society this Saturday at an organised Music Marathon.
Emma Sowden, Employability Manager for the University, was aiming to take part in the Reading Half Marathon and had obtained several sponsors. Unfortunately, Emma was unable to compete due to a broken toe. Instead she has organised this event to make up for the sponsorship money she could have made.
She said: "I may not be able to run a half marathon but I can certainly run something!"
The event will take place at Deja Vu in St Mary's Butts on Saturday from 7pm-midnight, headlined by local band Amy's Ghost, one of Reading's best loved bands who have just released their debut single and tipped for the top. Many other troubadours and bands are donating their time and talents to raise money for BAS, some of those include our colleagues at the University.
Other bands include Lindsey Kate Dolbear, Matt Dixey, Paula Curtis, Chris Beales, Damien Passmore, Rob Sowden, Galapagos, Polar Sky and Burnt Tomorrow.
There will also be a mega music marathon raffle for £1.50 a ticket on the night and prizes donated by local retailers, professionals and staff at the university include : A meal for two at the New Jamie's Italian at the Oracle's Riverside, M&S vouchers, Toni and Guy Hair Salon Vouchers, Luxury Manicure at Reading's H-Room, champagne, Indian Head massage, 2 Beginners Piano lessons, Reflexology session and an Indian Banquet for 4. The raffle will be drawn on the night.
Everyone is welcome. Admission £3 on the door with all profits going to Berkshire Autistic Society.
