The new interior at Eat and Drink @ London Road

The revamped interior reflects the building's historic function as a dairy

The bar and eatery is open all day to staff, students and members of the public, and offers a wide range of drinks, meals and snacks. The menu includes: pizzas, salads, mezze, nachos, burgers and the signature dish The "Cotton" Club sandwich.

This is the first outlet in the University's new Eat chain to be rolled out across the campuses. When the new Central Production Unit is fully operational, every Eat will be partially fuelled by food prepared there, and the rest will be produced on site.

The refurbishments are sympathetic to the building's historic function as a dairy, showing off the high glass ceiling that was once covered, and dairy-style lamps hanging from the beams. There are also some more obvious nods towards its previous incarnation, including exposed brick work and tiles, and a fake grass area complete with large cow murals and dairy stools.

Matt Tebbit, the outlet's Manager, said ‘We are delighted with the finished results of the refurbishment, which marks significant progress in the new Catering Strategy Project. We hope the quirky décor and new menu will impress our old customers and attract lots of new ones.'

Eat and Drink at London Road, formerly the Cotton Club, is situated on the London Road campus, adjacent to the Museum of English Rural Life.
