Business School staff take on Snowdonia for local charity

Over the weekend of September 4-5 an intrepid team from the Henley Business School will be taking on the Snowdonia Marathon Challenge.

This is a demanding event which will test the team to the limit of their physical fitness, mental agility and ability to work as a team.

Over the course of 24 hours, they will walk 26 miles (the distance of an Olympic marathon) whilst ascending 11,000 feet - that's one third of the height of Everest!

Tough, but only 50 per cent of the challenge...

In order to successfully complete the challenge, the team needs to raise £5,000 for the Royal Berkshire Hospital's ‘Robbie the robot' appeal.

In recent months, ‘Robbie', the da Vinci robot, has transformed prostate cancer operations at the Royal Berkshire Hospital. The robot provides the latest in state of the art robotic assisted surgery, significantly improving patients' recovery rate.

The University team comprises six members of staff, Peter Miskell, David Stannard, Mike Keighley, Emma Clarke Marc Day, Craig Bailey and Trudy Shore.

Team Leader David Stannard, who is Director of Administration at Henley Business School, said "We're delighted to be entering a team into the Challenge on behalf of the Royal Berkshire Charity's 'Robbie the Robot Appeal'. The School recognises that it plays a significant role in the local community and we're hoping to raise a total of £5000 to meet the Charity's target for the event. We're up for the challenge and raring to go!"
