Business School staff conquer Snowdonia challenge

On the weekend of 4-5 September, an intrepid team of Henley Business School staff successfully completed the Snowdonia Marathon Challenge.

The team was made up of five members of staff: Peter Miskell, David Stannard, Emma Clarke, Marc Day, Trudy Shore, and Craig Bailey, Trudy's partner, who all took on the mission in order to raise money for the Royal Berkshire Hospital's ‘Robbie the Robot' appeal.

Twelve teams took part in the challenge and at the end of the first day Team Henley came in first having been the tenth group to start. Overall they walked 26 miles in 24 hours, whilst ascending 11,000 feet!

Trudy Shore said: "Well we did it! And what great fun it was too. We were lucky with the weather and really enjoyed the whole event.  Snowdon was great, but the walk up to Glyder Fawr was really hard going for awhile and we were all very glad to get to the top and have a five minute rest. 

"The high point for me was the start of the second day as we went up Pen-yr Ole Wen which was a scramble with a bit of climbing involved, much more fun and fantastic views from the top.  

"At the end of a tough walk you just really want to get your boots off and jump in the shower!  All in all though it was really rewarding to know we had raised over £77,000 between all the teams for an incredibly worthy cause."
