Forthcoming consultation on proposed changes to the Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS) Ltd

Monday, 11 October 2010

calculating

Colleagues who are members of the USS (or eligible to join this scheme),

Following lengthy discussions on changes to USS benefits, a package of proposals has been accepted by the USS Board (please note; the University of Reading is not represented on the USS Board).

The proposals are subject to consultation with scheme members, prospective members and their representatives. I am acting as the nominated consultation contact for Reading.

I am writing at this stage to notify you that it is intended that the consultation period will open on 20 October 2010 and close on 22 December 2010. I expect to receive material relevant to the consultation from USS on 14 October, and this will be forwarded to you as soon as practicable thereafter. Please note that I intend to send this material to departmental or directorate addresses, unless I have identified good reason why an alternative address should be used.

A summary of the proposed scheme changes can be found on the USS website at
