'We have created a staff mailing list to inform you of all the weekly fixtures, upcoming events and successes of all the sports teams.'
2010/2011 sees the launch of Reading University Students' Union's ‘Year to Cheer' Campaign. As part of this campaign RUSU are looking to interact more with University staff members and would love for more supporters to attend matches to cheer on Reading and create an unrivalled sporting atmosphere.
John O'Brien, Sports Development Co-ordinator, said: "We have created a staff mailing list to inform you of all the weekly fixtures, upcoming events and successes of all the sports teams. For instance did you know Reading was voted ‘most improved university' at the British Universities and College Sports Awards 2010, and that our Men's basketball team are National Trophy Champions?
"One of our most successful events of this year so far has been a football match between Roll Deep, a London-based grime music band, and our Men's 1st football team. It was a great match, which was filmed by Umbro, who sponsored Roll Deep [see below for links to the video].
"Some upcoming events include our first ever Alumni Sports Day on Saturday 5th February where our alumni get the chance to lock horns with our current students in a number of sporting events. However Varsity is the biggest event this year! It is a day where over 30 of our clubs will be battling it out with Bucks New University for bragging rights for the year."
If you would like to know more about the sports teams at Reading please email John O'Brien, Sports Development Co-ordinator at RUSU (j.obrien@reading.ac.uk) quoting STAFF MAILING LIST.
They can also be found on Facebook (Sport at Reading University) and Twitter (sportreadinguni).
