'Stories By Starlight will provide a magical and memorable experience for children of all ages, as well as raising much-needed funds for KidsOut.'
The beautiful University grounds at Greenlands in Henley, home to Henley Business School, will be transformed into a magical land of stories, read by famous recorded voices including Miriam Margolyes, Simon Williams, Bill Nighy and Zoe Wanamaker in December.
The charity, KidsOut is opening up a sparkling world of magic and imagination at Greenlands for children and families in Berkshire, Buckinghamshire and Oxfordshire.
From 1 to 4 December, 'Stories By Starlight' will see Nativity scenes, elves and a wishing tree all bringing the stories of Christmas to life through lights and sounds in the grounds of Greenlands by the river Thames.
The event was conceived by artistic director Avril Lethbridge, who used to be based in Henley, working with a team of professionals, including Mike Atkinson, head of lighting resources at the National Theatre.
Disadvantaged children from the area will be able to attend the four-day event free of charge thanks to the Oxfordshire Playbus.
David Cosham, chief executive officer of KidsOut, said: "'Stories By Starlight' will provide a magical and memorable experience for children of all ages, as well as raising much-needed funds for KidsOut.
"We are hugely grateful to all the talented artists and production staff who are giving their time free as well as Henley Business School, which has generously allowed us to use its beautiful grounds."
'Stories by Starlight' will be open to the public from December 1 to 4, from 6.30pm to 9pm. Tickets cost £10 for a family of four, or £2.50 each but under-fives, charities and organisations working with children can attend for free.
