'The team have worked hard to fundraise to make our clinic a more friendly and welcoming place for the families with whom we work.'
More than half of the Berkshire Child Anxiety Clinic team at the University have committed to running the 13.1 miles in an effort to raise awareness of child anxiety and raise funds to make the clinic more child-friendly.
The runners include the Research Director, Administrator, Psychologists, Research Assistants, Assistant Psychologists, and Administrative staff.
Friends and families of the runners, as well as the wider community, have been very generous in their support and so far they have raised £1,222. The money will be used to update the clinic rooms with child-friendly furnishings, and activities and games to be used in the waiting room and in therapy.
Dr Cathy Creswell, joint clinic director, said "Berkshire Child Anxiety Clinic is a unique resource that enables us to deliver effective treatment to Berkshire children who struggle with anxiety. The clinic team have really pulled together and encouraged each other, getting many of us (including myself) running seriously for the first time in our lives. The team have also worked hard to fundraise in order to make our clinic a more friendly and welcoming place for the families with whom we work. We hope people will look out for us in our Berkshire Child Anxiety Clinic T-Shirts on the day and give us a wave."
The Reading half marathon - the UK's second biggest half-marathon (approx 13,000 runners) will be coming through the Whiteknights campus on Sunday 20 March. Runners will enter at the Pepper Lane entrance; pass Whiteknights House and Blandford Lodge, exiting at the main entrance by the SportsPark between 9.00am and 12.00pm.
