Key appointments to develop University's Malaysia campus project
Thursday, 31 March 2011
As part of our International strategy, the University has long recognised that being a truly international University means that we have to be able to take Reading to our international markets rather than expecting them to come to us. We are therefore currently investigating the prospect of building a branch campus in Malaysia.
The Vice-Chancellor, acting on behalf of Senior Management Board, has approved the following appointments to create a strong team to spearhead this important venture for the University.
- Pro-Vice-Chancellor, Professor Rob Robson will be taking up the post of Provost and Chief Executive Officer of the University's proposed branch campus in Malaysia. To begin with, he will undertake his new role concurrent with his role as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Teaching and Learning. However, it is anticipated that the Malaysia project role will become an increasingly significant part of his workload and, from summer 2012, will require a full-time commitment. Therefore, Professor Robson will be relinquishing the Office of Pro-Vice-Chancellor on 31 July 2012.
- Dr Martha-Marie Kleinhans has been appointed to the position of Vice-Provost of Teaching, Learning and Student Experience, which she will carry out in parallel with her role as Director of Teaching and Learning for the Faculty of Social Sciences in the first instance.
- Peter Osborne, Head of Financial Planning and Analysis has been appointed Chief Operating Officer for the venture.
