Friday, 20 May 2011
'We hope 'Campus Central' will offer a unique campus service for University staff as well as students.'
Monday 23 May will see the doors of 'Campus Central' open for the first time. It is set to be the largest students' union shop in the UK according to NUS Services Limited.
Reading University Students' Union's new shop, located on the ground floor of Black Horse House, is twice the size of the current shop in the RUSU building and will offer a greatly improved variety of products and longer opening hours in the future.
'Campus Central's 270 square feet will offer staff and students a wide range of fresh meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables, frozen goods, groceries, University merchandise and stationery.
It will retain the old shop's opening hours of 8.30am-8pm Monday to Friday and 10am-6pm on Saturday for the rest of the summer term, but the new location will allow the shop to stay open later from the next academic year.
RUSU President, Jess Lazarczyk, said: "We are really excited about the opening of the new shop, and we hope it will offer a unique campus service for University staff as well as students."
The shop will open its doors at 10am on Monday 23 May.
The old shop, ‘RU Being Served', will be replaced with more franchised retail units giving even more variety of goods and services available on campus.
