Plans for future of Bulmershe to go on display
Tuesday, 28 June 2011
Staff are invited to attend the University's public exhibition of its proposals for the development of the Bulmershe campus on 8 and 9 July.
Once the University finally moves off the campus at the end of summer 2012, the University plans to enhance the playing fields for University and community recreational use, including the development of a new sports pavilion, and replace the existing teaching and research facilities with new homes and a residential care home. Six of the halls buildings will be retained and converted into flats.
With the Department of Film, Theatre and Television already relocated from Bulmershe to its new home in the Minghella Building on Whiteknights and the Institute of Education moving from Bulmershe to London Road by the end of this year, there will no longer be any teaching and research space requirement for Bulmershe. The student accommodation at Bulmershe is not required beyond the end of the 2011/12 academic year as replacement accommodation is coming on stream on the Whiteknights campus.
The University's plans are to devise a high-quality housing development for the local area. Receipts from any development will be re-invested in the core work of the institution.
