Administrative changes from 1 August

Several changes to the University structure came about on 1 August. A summary of the main changes follows:
On the departure of Vice-Chancellor, Gordon Marshall, Professor Tony Downes became Acting Vice-Chancellor. Professor Downes can be contacted via the Vice-Chancellor's PA, Tricia Allen or for matters concerning the Deputy Vice-Chancellor duties, via his PA, Sarah Nolan.
The Faculty of Arts and Humanities merged with the Faculty of Social Sciences to form the Faculty of Arts, Humanities and Social Science. Professor Hugo Tucker becomes Dean of the merged Faculty. Pauline Baker is Secretary to Professor Tucker. The Head of the School of Literature and Languages is now Professor Christopher Duggan.
The School of Economics has merged with the School of Politics and International Relations to form the School of Politics, Economics and International Relations. Professor Geoff Meen becomes Head of the merged School.
The School of Management within the Henley Business School is re-cast as four distinct entities:
- International Business and Strategy headed by Professor Alan Rugman
- Leadership, Organisations and Behaviour headed by Professor Abby Ghobadian
- Marketing and Reputation headed by Professor Moira Clark
- Business Informatics, Systems and Accounting headed by Professor Kecheng Liu
The Academic Services Directorate merged with the Student Services Directorate to form the Student and Academic Services Directorate. Dr Richard Messer becomes Director of Student and Academic Services. Jennifer Ghandhi takes the title of Director of Student Learning and Teaching Services (SLATS) within the merged Directorate.
Admissions is now a single organisational unit reporting to a Head of Admissions. The University welcomes Dr Christina Edgar who takes up the new role of Head of Admissions.
Study Advice and Maths Support have moved organisationally and physically to the Library, Whiteknights.
The Disability Advisory Service will now report to the Head of Counselling. Counselling staff have moved from the Medical Centre and are now based in the Carrington Building. (The Mental Health Adviser, Charles Kenderdine, retains an office in the Medical Centre.)
The Careers Advisory Service has now become the Student Experience, Employment and Careers Centre (SEECC) with a renewed focus on experience, placements and employability issues. SEECC is based in the Carrington Building. A Director for this service is yet to be appointed.
The Centre for the Development of Teaching and Learning (CDoTL) has moved to the Geography Building.
Central Room Bookings and Timetabling are now based on the ground floor of the Carrington Building.
Council changes
The Office of University Treasurer ceases to exist.
Mr Bob Dwyer becomes a Vice-President of the Council alongside Mrs Judith Scott who continues to serve.
