School Governors' One-Stop Shop (SGOSS) is an independent charity that works across England to recruit new volunteers to become school governors.

Responsible for the strategic management of a school, governing bodies make collective decisions about a whole range  of issues - from personnel and budget allocation, to setting the aims and values of the school.

It's a great volunteering opportunity; every governor is certain to develop new skills, meet new people and gain a keen awareness of the education system.  Becoming a school governor offers the chance to make a substantial and positive impact within the community and a real difference to the lives of local children.

Anybody aged eighteen or over can be a governor. No specialised experience is required, and you do not need to be a parent. All that is needed is the time to attend meetings and a desire to make a difference - for more information please visit www.becomeagovernor.com or phone the SGOSS office on 020 7354 9549.
