The University of Reading is ranked 30th in the Sunday Times University Guide 2012, echoing the trend this year in which the University has improved its position in all the UK university rankings.
The Sunday Times league table incorporates the recently published National Student Survey (NSS) results in which the University of Reading is ranked in the top 20 for student satisfaction with an overall satisfaction rate of 89% and 18 departments and subject areas receiving 90% or higher satisfaction levels.
In particular, our students recognise the strength of teaching (88% satisfaction) at Reading, academic support (80%) and the levels of support we offer for personal development (83%).
The latest graduate employability data is also reflected in the Sunday Times league table. The University's 2010 graduate employability results are the best for a decade.
The percentage of Reading 2010 graduates who reported they were in graduate level work and/or study after six months has risen by 3.3% from 2009 to almost 70%. Those reporting being unemployed has fallen to 6.6%.
Professor Tony Downes; Acting Vice-Chancellor of the University of Reading, said: "While league tables only tell half the story, we are delighted that the high levels of student satisfaction at Reading, the strong performance of our graduates in the job market, and the significant investment by the University in teaching, accommodation and research facilities, is reflected in this year's Sunday Times ranking.
"Young people planning to enter higher education in 2012 will be thinking very hard about the quality of their potential choice of university and what constitutes the right university for them - league tables are but one useful indicator by which to make a decision.
"Those considering Reading as their choice will be joining a research-intensive university, where teaching is in the main conducted by research-active staff. The development of our new Student Employment, Experience and Careers Centre (SEECC) at the University will also build on the strong employability results to develop a wide range of placement schemes, activities and resources to complement degree programmes which will further enhance the work-related experience of our students."
