Why not come along to the Eco-tube.com Social Media Masterclass today at 7pm in Caf├® Mondial
Scores of staff plus children from the University's Nursery came together yesterday to form a huge message, lining up to write ‘35% UoR' on the green grass of the sports pitches beside Whiteknights House.
The aerial photograph was taken by a battery-powered remote controlled helicopter.
This was part of the launch event for the University's Green Week attended by Acting Vice-Chancellor Tony Downes, who encouraged all staff and students to play their part to cut the University's carbon footprint.
Other activities this week include:
- Go Green Exhibition - taking place in 3Sixty in the Students' Union on Tuesday, this exhibition provides a great opportunity to meet some of our green suppliers, pick up some freebies including University 'keep cups' with soup, and enter an E.On competition to win tickets to the O2
- What caused the extreme weather of 2010-2011 - in the second Public Lecture of the series, Dr Nicholas Klingaman will talk about the extreme weather events that affected hundreds of millions
- Harris Garden Walk - spend your lunch time outdoors on Thursday and join a guided walk around the beautiful Harris Garden on the Whiteknights campus
Tom Yearley, University Energy Officer, outlined some of the other activities on offer during Green Week at the launch which can be seen on the Clean and Green website.
