Highly regarded by the scientific community, the Society is the largest learned society for nutrition in Europe.

A spokeswoman for the Society said; "The Gold Medal Award has only been presented once before in the history of the Society and it was a great pleasure to be able to honour our most esteemed members in our 70th anniversary year."

"All our Gold Medal holders have made a huge contribution to advance the scientific study of nutrition and its application to the maintenance of human and animal health".
