Applications to the University of Reading have reached record numbers, having increased by more than 10% on 2011
Congratulations to all involved in student recruitment! Against a national backdrop of falling undergraduate applications, applications to the University of Reading have reached record numbers, having increased by more than 10% on 2011's strong performing year. With nearly 20,000 applications, Reading has outperformed nearly all Russell Group and 1994 Group universities.
UCAS announced their data for applications that had been made by 15 January today, and reported a 7.4% decrease nationwide. 1994 Group and Russell Group universities are down approximately 3% on average.
Reading has maintained its reputation as a university of choice, attracting almost 20,000 applications from increasingly high-calibre candidates. Strong performing areas include Law (with home applications doubling) History, Management, Computer Science and Biological Sciences.
A breakdown of Reading's applications shows that Home/EU applications have risen by 5% on 2011 and international applications are 64% ahead of this time last year.
All members of staff involved in University and Departmental Visit Days in February and March, along with a range of other other communication channels will be doing their very best to ensure that the University of Reading will become the ultimate destination of these applicants.
