The University played host to a royal visit on Thursday 2 February as the Earl of Wessex visited students taking part in their Duke of Edinburgh's Award scheme.
Prince Edward came to Henley Business School at Whiteknights in order to present Wokingham Borough Council with its Duke of Edinburgh's Award licence, which allows the council's youth service to hand out gold, silver and bronze awards on the scheme's behalf.
The reception was organised by RUSU and Wokingham council, with the University providing the facilities for the visit.
As well as meeting students currently engaged in Duke of Edinburgh's Awards, Prince Edward had a tour of the building with the Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell.
Sir David said: "Our students show great commitment in taking on the challenge of the Duke of Edinburgh awards scheme alongside their studies, showing a willingness to improve their own skills while making a real difference to the lives of others in the community. This embodies the ethos of the University of Reading.
"We are proud to celebrate the achievements of our students and I am very grateful to His Royal Highness the Earl of Wessex for visiting us and presenting a new licence to our partners at Wokingham Borough Council."
