Celebrating Women in Research
Thursday, 01 March 2012
All members of staff are invited to a special event being held at the University on Thursday 8 March to mark International Women's Day.
We are launching a new photographic exhibition, celebrating women in research at the University of Reading, entitled Women in Research, which profiles some of our inspiring female academics from all disciplines across the University.
Fifteen large black and white photographic portraits by David Hatfull of Diem photography and profiles of the researchers will be featured in the exhibition.
Hosted by the Vice-Chancellor, David Bell, there will be short presentations from a small number of academics and students talking about their experiences and those who have inspired them.
Rona Cheeseman, University Research Communications Manager said; "We're delighted to be launching this very special exhibition, which celebrates the achievements of our women researchers and find out about the challenges they face. I do hope as many staff as possible can join us on the night to enjoy the exhibition and to learn more about the experiences of staff and students."
All members of staff are invited to attend this event, but please book a place by contacting events@reading.ac.uk | 0118 378 7109
The event will also feature letters and the memoirs of Edith Morley, who was made the first woman professor in Britain in 1908 at the University of Reading.
