Students from Sherfield Hall with a little help from Benyon Hall and St Patricks Hall raised more than £400 for the Duchess of Kent House at an end of term summer fete recently.

The junior common room committee at Sherfield Hall organised a mini-Olympics during which students and members of the local community took part in activities such as a fancy-dress race, egg roulette and a duvet-sack-race.

There was a 45ft assault course, fair stalls, a best cake competition, and the favourite of the afternoon - a bucking rodeo bull.

Committee president Jack Marshall said: "We were all very impressed with the number of people who turned up and we managed to raise £426.57 for the Duchess of Kent House."

Warden of Sherfield Hall, Carol Prior said; "Congratulations to all the students on the JCR committee who worked so hard to make this event a success. I was delighted that they chose to support the charity of my choice, the Duchess of Kent Hospice."
