Professor Christine Williams has been re-appointed as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation until 31 July 2016.
Professor Williams joined the University in 1995, when she became the University's first Hugh Sinclair Professor of Nutrition. The Unit is now one of the most highly-rated human nutrition centres in Europe and follows in the inspiring footsteps of Professor Hugh Sinclair, the first person to connect dietary fat with heart related diseases. She first took up her post as Pro-Vice-Chancellor in 2008.
Professor Williams said; "I am delighted that I have been appointed for a second term as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for Research and Innovation. I am very proud that our work at Reading is so relevant to society and people's quality of life.
I am looking forward to working on the outcomes of the recent strategy consultation on advancing our research standing and status. This is an exciting chapter in the University's research agenda."
Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell said; "I am delighted that Professor Williams has agreed to remain as Pro-Vice-Chancellor for a further four years. Already, Christine has made an outstanding contribution in this post. Under Christine's leadership, we have pushed forward our investment in 50 new academic posts and made strong progress in our preparations for the Research Excellence Framework in 2014. I look forward to working closely with Christine in the months and years ahead."
