Official opening of Childs Hall and Stenton Townhouses

Thursday, 23 August 2012

Childs Hall

Childs Hall

All staff are invited to the official opening of the new Childs Hall and the Stenton Townhouses on Tuesday 4 September 2012.

The new accommodation, which replaces the fondly remembered but ageing Childs Hall built in the mid 1960s, will form part of the offering to students for this coming academic year, and will be managed and operated by our accommodation partners, University Partnerships Programme (UPP).

The £30 million construction project has created almost 900 rooms in total. In Childs the accommodation is configured in blocks, with eight rooms per corridor and a communal kitchen, whereas the Stenton townhouses have communal kitchens, living and dining spaces on the ground floor with bedrooms on the upper floors.

Refreshments will be served from 3.00pm in Park Eat and following a short set of speeches at 3.30pm, you will be given the opportunity to take a guided tour of the new accommodation, allowing you to explore the new development for yourself.

If you would like to attend, please RSVP to events@reading.ac.uk or call the Events Office on 0118 378 4313.
