Foxhill Gate to become pedestrian and cycle access only

Thursday, 13 September 2012

Foxhill Gate

the Foxhill Gate entrance to the Whiteknights campus

From Monday 1 October, Foxhill Gate will be closed to all vehicular traffic other than the emergency services and for halls arrival and departure weekends

Following the completion of construction of the new student accommodation in the Park Group, the Foxhill Gate entrance to the Whiteknights campus will become accessible to pedestrians and cyclists only.

It will close to vehicular traffic after the new students move into their accommodation in the Park Group over the weekend of Friday 28- Sunday 30 September.

From Monday 1 October, Foxhill Gate will be closed to all vehicular traffic other than the emergency services and for halls arrival and departure weekends.

Staff and visitors accessing Foxhill House by car will be able to enter the campus through either the Shinfield Road or Pepper Lane entrances and follow the road through car park 2 which links to the car park at Foxhill House. Parking arrangements at Foxhill House will remain unchanged.

The closure of Foxhill Gate to traffic forms part of the health and safety and security aims of the Whiteknights Development Plan and was widely consulted on in 2007.

As a result, there will be a safer access route for pedestrian and cyclists across campus, improved site security and better monitoring of visitor and vehicle movements. In line with the Plan, the Whiteknights campus will have four vehicular access points - Queen's Drive and Chancellor's Way (exit only), Pepper Lane and Earley Gate.
