Staff at the Teaching and Learning Awards

Staff who attended the Teaching and Learning Success awards

Congratulations to all members of staff who received an award or fellowship

Over 50 members of staff have been recognised for their outstanding contributions to teaching and learning at a special awards ceremony, organised by the Centre for the Development of Teaching and Learning (CDoTL) and the Centre for Staff Training and Development (CSTD).

Alongside the national and University teaching and learning awards and fellowships (read more about the winners), Professor Gavin Brooks presented awards for staff taking part in the Postgraduate Certificate in Academic Practice (PGCAP) and Teaching and Learning Support Programme (TLSP).

These programmes are designed to meet and support the continuing professional development needs of new lecturers. All participants create a reflective portfolio and PGCAP participants undertake a work-based project on an aspect of teaching and learning in an area of their interest. Each year the projects and portfolios which have been awarded the mark of distinction are eligible for consideration for a number of prizes:

PGCAP Project Prize

This is awarded to the project that is most likely to influence practices within the School and/or discipline area.

Samuel Laryea, School of Construction Management and Engineering for his project ‘Feedback provision and use in the School of Construction Management and Engineering'

David Malvern Prize

This award, named after the late Professor David Malvern who was PGCAP Programme Directory from its inception in 2001, is given to those who best demonstrate a commitment to continual improvement and development.

Catherine Foley, Institute of Education

Natasha Barrett, School of Biological Sciences (runner-up)

Teaching and Learning Support Programme Portfolio Prize

Nicola Abram, Department of English

Congratulations to all members of staff who received an award or fellowship!
