Have you entered the Green Week Photo Challenge?
Tuesday, 06 November 2012
'Whether you're using a smart phone, compact camera or DSLR, we would like to see as many people's interpretations of these themes as possible!'
In the lead up to Green Week (12-16 November), the Environment, Energy, Sustainability and Travel Team are asking staff and students to show off their creativity by entering the Green Week Photo Challenge.
To enter, all you need to do is to take five photos, one per category, and either email them to eest@reading.ac.uk, or post them on the EEST Team's Facebook page (including your full name and contact details) by Wednesday 14 November. You could also consider working with other members of staff, and submit five photos as a team.
The five categories are:
- Re-use it
- Switch it off
- Tree huggers
- Layering up
- Travelling green
All entrants will be entered into a prize draw to win a fold-up bike, and the owner of the photo with the most ‘likes' on Facebook (the team will share all email entries on their Facebook page) will win a solar powered radio. Prizes will be awarded during the Green Week Awards Ceremony on 16 November.
Tom Yearley, Energy Officer, said: "Whether you're using a smart phone, compact camera or DSLR, we would like to see as many people's interpretations of these themes as possible! We will share all the photos on Facebook for everyone to enjoy, and we also hope to be able to use some of them for our promotional materials in the future."

Get involved with Green Week
To start the week, Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell and President of the Students' Union, James Fletcher will be taking part in a 'Battle of the Bins'! Come to the Palmer building foyer at 1pm on Monday 12 November to cheer them on (along with the RUSU Cheerleaders!) as they battle to separate and recycle the most waste. There will also be refreshments available.
To find out about other Green Week activities, including a cinema in a skip and the next Public Lecture (‘Hot in the city: Urban Heat Islands explained') visit the Clean and Green website.
