KIS goes live!
Monday, 26 November 2012
The Higher Education Funding Council for England (HEFCE) has asked all universities to produce a ‘Key Information Set' (KIS) for every undergraduate programme offered and for these to be made publicly available.
KIS are one aspect of the reforms outlined in the Government White Paper Students at the Heart of the System. KIS should help to ensure that prospective students have information to enable them to make informed choices about higher education.
These key information sets have now been compiled by HEFCE and the resultant "KIS widgets" are now available for all programmes. To meet its mandatory obligations the University is now displaying these publically on its University-wide programme level pages, visit http://www.reading.ac.uk/Study/ug-courseatoz.aspx and click on any of the programmes listed.
We are now working with Schools to embed the "KIS widget" on School level programme pages and to provide contextual information in relation to the data provided within the widgets. At the same time we are viewing with interest the information provided in the "KIS widgets" displayed by other institutions.
The Committee for Student Recruitment and Marketing (STREAM) will be providing oversight going forward in terms of the use and importance of the KIS. If colleagues have specific questions about the KIS data they should contact Quinten Taylor in the first instance q.r.taylor@reading.ac.uk If the query relates the use of KIS data in relation to marketing then please contact Kirsti Wilson k.wilson@reading.ac.uk
