'The University of Reading was ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide this year so it is very fitting that we recognise our top 1% students.'
The University's top students were recognised by the Chancellor Sir John Madejski at the 2012 Chancellor's Award ceremony this week.
The event celebrated those students who achieved the highest results in their subject at the end of either their first or second year of study.
Nearly 70 students gathered for the reception which was hosted by Sir John. Each student received a yearbook with all the winners' names and a special Chancellor's Award pin badge.
Sir John said: "The University of Reading was ranked in the top 1% of universities worldwide this year so it is very fitting that we recognise our top 1% students. Those featured in this yearbook represent our brightest and best students from across the University's broad range of academic disciplines. We are extremely proud to be able to showcase such an inspiring group of individuals."

Law student Osarieme Anita Omonuwa is from Nigeria. She said: "I chose the University of Reading as my brother is a graduate and he loved the student experience. The unprecedented academic standard, diversity of students and above all the location confirmed my decision. Coming to Reading was one of the best decisions I have ever made."
Computer science student Sergey Kravchenko from Russia added: "Reading is one of the leading research universities. I thought that if the University has a strong research background then the quality of the teaching has to be great. I love Reading the town. It has given me a place to study with great learning facilities and a picturesque campus."
