Join British Independent Film Award winner as he returns to Reading
Monday, 14 January 2013
Peter Strickland graduated from the University of Reading in 1977 with a degree in Fine Art
Acclaimed Film Director and University of Reading alumnus, Peter Strickland is returning to Reading for a screening of his latest film, and all staff and students are very welcome to attend.
Berberian Sound Studio is showing at Reading's own independent cinema, Reading Film Theatre, Whiteknights campus, on Tuesday 15 at 8.00pm.
Following the screening, Strickland will lead a question and answer session on the film's making. Reading Film Theatre co-ordinator, Amrit Maghera-Johal said: "We are thrilled that Peter has taken the time out to come back to Reading and talk about his film which he wrote and directed.
"This is a brilliant opportunity for members of the audience to ask the director himself about the making of the film, his choice of subject matter and his motivation for writing it."
Berberian Sound Studio scooped four awards at the British Independent Film Awards in 2012 including one for Best Director and Best Actor. Directed and written by Strickland, this thriller tells the story of a sound effects expert who is dispatched to an Italian film studio to work with a legendary horror director.
It is fitting that Strickland should come back to his roots in Reading given the time he spent here studying Fine Arts and volunteering at Reading Film Theatre, and what better support could Strickland give to independent cinema than to return to Reading where he first experienced film and its live screening to audiences?
Please do come along and show your support for both this talented Reading alumnus and the volunteer-run Reading Film Theatre. No need to book. Tickets available on the evening, but to pre book ring 0118 378 7151 or book online at www.readingfilmtheatre.co.uk
