'Estates and Facilities are at the heart of making this an attractive university for students and staff'
The Department of Estates and Facilities has been awarded silver status by the Investors in People (IiP), in an achievement that acknowledges the department as being ambitious, forward thinking and people-centric.
The department has used IiP to improve how they manage; from better communication to managing change and, significantly, involving staff at all levels so they know that they are all working towards a common goal.
The award was presented to the department of Estates and Facilities on Thursday 17 January in 3sixty by Vice-Chancellor Sir David Bell, in a ceremony that attracted a 150 strong audience consisting of a wide range of staff across the department.
The award is a tremendous achievement for the department, as silver status recognises the seventy six additional achievements that the department has made, on top of the thirty nine required to achieve the basic standard. Assessors commented on the department's good use of IiP in improving the department, as well as employee awareness of what their team goals were.
Director of Estates and Facilities Colin Robbins said: "Well done and thank you for all the hard work that went into gaining this higher award really summarizes what I want to say," describing the achievement of the award as "an exciting and sometimes quite testing journey."
Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell highlighted the importance of Estates and Facilities to the wider university, stating that they were "at the heart of making this an attractive university for students and staff."
Congratulations are due to all of the Estates and Facilities staff on this well-deserved achievement.
