Running for the David Grimes Trust

Tuesday, 25 February 2014

Dr David Grimes

Thirty students and staff from the Department of Meteorology will run in the Reading Half Marathon on Sunday 2 March. Their target is to raise £1,200 for the David Grimes Trust.

David was a Reader in African Meteorology and was an integral part of the Meteorology Department until his untimely death on 22 December 2011.

David was heavily involved in the Reading San Francisco Libre Association (RSFLA). He was also a keen runner, so this seemed a fitting way to raise money for the David Grimes Trust, administered by the RSFLA which is focused on environmental projects.

Members of the Meteorology Department are also challenging themselves with a staff v student ‘race within a race'.

For more information on the RSFLA see their website. £3.20 pays for 120 seedlings for reforestation, £31 pays to fill 1,200 bags with soil and £80 allows one child to attend school for a year.
