National Student Survey 2013
Saturday, 16 March 2013
The Vice-Chancellor has called on staff to encourage final year students to complete the National Student Survey (NSS).
Now in its ninth year, the NSS is a nationally recognised annual survey of mostly final year undergraduates in the UK. The survey provides students with an opportunity to give their opinions on what they liked about their time at Reading as well as things that they felt could have been improved.
The survey is administered by Ipsos MORI, an independent market research agency, so answers remain anonymous at all times.
The NSS results are made publicly available to help prospective students make informed decisions of where and what to study. Institutions and students' unions also use the data to identify areas of strengths and weaknesses to help effect change and bring about enhancements to improve the student experience for future generations of students. Data from previous surveys are also available on Unistats.
In recent years, Reading has scored strongly in the NSS at an institutional and departmental level. Overall, we received an 88% satisfaction rating from our students last year.
Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell said: "This year, I am confident that our students will have excellent things to say about their time at Reading. However, we need to do everything we can to ensure they take the opportunity to have their say and that all our subject areas register a strong response from our final year students."
RUSU are supporting the campaign to encourage as many final year students as possible to complete the questionnaire. There will be a concerted University/RUSU campaign based outside the Palmer Building on Monday 18 to Wednesday 20 March to encourage students to take part.
If you are working in a School or a Department, please make the NSS a key part of your message to final year students in the run-up to Easter.
