Vice-Chancellor's address to Senate

Tuesday, 12 March 2013

Sir David Bell

Vice-Chancellor, Sir David Bell gave his address to Senate on 13 March 2013. Among other things, Sir David spoke of MOOCs - Massive Open Online Courses and our alignment with the Futurelearn consortium, led by the Open University; the outline of a new estates' ‘master plan' for the University and our forthcoming major fundraising campaign, that will launch publicly later in the year.

The Senate is one of the three main bodies that deliver the governance of the University. Reporting to the Council and meeting at least four times a year, the Senate advises on areas such as student entry, assessment and awards. With around 100 members, the Senate comprises Deans, Heads and elected representatives of Schools, as well as professional staff and students.
