HumSS roof to be replaced

Work to replace the roof on the 'U' shaped section of the HumSS building is to begin at the beginning of April.

Estates and Facilities are undertaking a project to replace the old copper roof with a new zinc covering. Over the Easter break, work will begin on the erection of scaffolding around the South spur of the building. After the examination period finishes on 7 June, contractors will begin to replace the roof.

When work on the South spur is complete, the scaffold will be dismantled and work will begin on the North spur. Work on the final section of the building, the link block between the two spurs, is due to start on 6 January 2014 and should be complete by mid-March 2014.

Staff who work on the top floor of those parts of the HumSS building affected by the work will be progressively moved to temporary alternative accommodation while the work is in progress, and every effort will be made to keep disruption to a minimum.
